Guatemala: Garden Box System

in collaboration with Cultiva International

Guatemala is the 4th highest malnourished country in the world, and the highest in Latin America.  Despite the abundant landscape and year round growing season, the average Guatemalan diet is unbalanced and lacks in a variety of healthy foods, resulting in stunted growth, and slowed development.  Compounding the problem of malnutrition is the poor living conditions of many of the indigenous people along with the lack of clean water to drink. Litter, human waste, laundry water and dish water go back into the land where food is grown.  Through education throughout the community on how to grow more nutritious food to improve their diet, and how to implement systems that can improve living conditions the people are being blessed. Cultiva International provides hands-on training at no cost, and education on things such as square-foot gardening, worm composting, permaculture, animal husbandry, grey water filtration, drinking water filtration, composting toilets, alternative energy, and more.   This project provides the locals with the opportunity to ‘learn-and-earn’, exchanging time spent working and learning on the farm for seeds, garden boxes, chickens, grey water and drinking water filtration and composting toilet systems, among other things. Cultiva International is the 501c3 organization which runs this program.

Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA: Strikes Against Slavery

In collaboration with the Essential Dharma Foundation and Operation Underground Railroad

The First Annual Strikes Against Slavery Bowling Tournament took place on April 2, 2019. This event is designed to raise both funds and awareness for Operation Underground Railroad. OUR exists to end Child Sex Trafficking across the globe. We are proud to say that this event raised just under $9,000 for OUR and we are proud to continue our partnership with the Essential Dharma Foundation and Operation Underground Railroad to work towards measurable results and solutions.
